About Macau Open

With the support and assistance of the Macau Sports Development Board, the previous Macau Squash Opens have achieved fruitful results in several aspects, particularly with remarkable achievement in the promotion of squash in Macau and the local tourism industry.

Having gained experience through organizing the past events, Macau Squash Association once again hosts the Macau Squash Open. This year, the tournament has attracted the world’s top players to join, hopefully it will the forthcoming competitions more exciting and spectacular. The organizing body hopes to improve the playing skills and interest of local players with this tournament.

The 2014 tournament will follow the regulations set by PSA and WISPA: Both the men’s and the women’s tournaments are knock-out matches, best of five games, adopting the direct scoring system and play to 11 points. Regarding draws, eleven top world-ranking players will automatically enter the 16 players’ main draw, while a Macau player will take the 12th position. The remaining 4‘main-draw’ positions will be determined by the results of the qualifying rounds. The tournament will be held from October 20th to 26th, 2014. Matches of the qualifying rounds will be held on October 20th and 21th, and the main draw rounds will take place from October 22th until 26th. The venue is held at Centro de Bowling do Complexo Desportivo Internacional,COTAI. Semi Finals & Finals round will be played at Praça da Amizade.
